When the routine of going to practice everyday is replaced of a new routine of going to work, and work some more. The body adjusts but unfortunately, the appetite remains. Thus, common to most athletes, they gain weight and aches in muscles , joints and bones shows up.

Unfortunately, this was exactly what happened to me when my volleyball playing days were over. Less exercise, appetite maintained. From having a playing weight of 140 lbs, I ballooned to 180. Then, after having a hard time breathing after walking 1-2 floors using the stairs, I decided to play pick up Basketball with my friends in a ball club. Things were running smoothly on the few first possessions of the game. But as the game progressed, I felt my knees, back and some of my joints stiffed. To make matters worse, the very next day, they were aching already and I had to deal with it for almost a week. Nah! 1st week jitters perhaps. But for every week that followed, it was the same story. So I decided that if I was to play competitive ball again, I needed to lose weight, fast! The problem was I can't play when my back and knee pains were giving me fits.

Fortunately, the GRD coffee was introduced to me by our neighbor. After much explanation, he was able to convince me and I gave it a try. I never stopped drinking after that.

Whats great about this "coffee" is that it's very high in fiber and protein. When people go into diet, like skipping meals or just eating a little, what happens is you're losing muscles instead of the fats, that's why people who do this kind of diet feels tired and weak. However, if we choose to go into protein diet, we retain all the muscles that we need for our day to day activities, we burn the fat. 75% of our body needs protein, even our hair needs it! It is used in supplying energy so if we skip meal, or eat a little, then that would be a problem.

Fiber is needed for regular waste disposal. Normal disposal should be 2-3x a day. Whaaat!? 2-3x? For some who have constipation, this is really a big problem. We'll if you're eating more than 5x a day and you get to do the thing every other day, then you have a problem. Colon cancer and gaining weight are some of the effects. Big belly is the other one too!

So eat food with lots of fiber and protein. For people who are always on the go and don't have the time anymore to prepare food in the morning, GRD Coffee is for you.

BREAKFAST for weight loss?

It's been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gets us going, gives us all the energy that we need for the rest of the day. But why I am writing about breakfast for weight loss? Are we going to skip this meal just to lose weight? Before we answer that question, we should ask what is breakfast really? If its really important, why do a lot of people take it for granted? Having brunch, and sometimes, skipping it altogether?

Breakfast is to break the fast from the previous night of sleep and rest. After eight to 12 hours of sleep without any food, our body needs to refuel its glucose levels. Without breakfast, our brain and muscles will not have the energy they need to sustain activity throughout the day. Studies shows that people who skip breakfast often feel more tired, irritable and are restless during mornings. For people who eat breakfast, they have better concentration and problem solving abilities, better attitude toward work and a higher ability on tasks that require memory.

People nowadays are so busy that they turn to instant meals, processed foods, coffee and other food that just make our tummy full. If breakfast is so important, shouldn't we be giving more emphasis on it?

On my previous post, I mentioned about GRD coffee and that I lost 20 lbs in less than 3 months by just having it every morning. So for people who are used to drinking just plain coffee in the morning, this coffee alternative is for you. GRD coffee is made up of natural ingredients that consist of protein, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals and electrolytes; all of which we need to start our day. So it's like you ate a full meal already and skipping breakfast without skipping it. After all, I think it's better to start with the nutrients that we need than just plain caffeine in the morning. For people who skip breakfast just to maintain their figure and wants to trim down, this GRD Coffee is good for you.

Let's admit it, a lof of Pinoys are coffee addicts! No wonder why instant coffee and coffee shops (foreign and local) have been sprawling like mushrooms, they're everywhere! But as much as we want to devour the yummy frappes and latte's these shops are serving us, we just can't.
It's called CAFFEINE and just like any average Pinoys who enjoy the 2-in-1, 3-in-1 and lot of new instant coffee in the market today, we don't realize how bad it is until we scrutinize and give attention to it's effects on our bodies and our systems.

Since I'm a health buff (and I know there are many of you out there too!) drinking coffee to start the day became a NO-NO for me. What I did was to look and tried a lot of alternatives. After months of searching and trying other drinks, and not having any luck in finding my perfect coffee alternative, our neighbor luckily introduced a coffee, all without the caffeine (!!!!)

What's great about the product is that it tastes like the real thing, but it’s healthier and "meatier" - that after drinking the whole cup (in my case – mug), you're already full! No wonder I lost 20 lbs since I started drinking the product. (mmmm.... I’m getting way ahead of myself here.)

It's called GRD COFFEE, short for Go, Refresh & Detoxify. A detoxifying coffee also? Too good to be true, I said to myself. But true to its name, it is very effective and lives up to its hype. I found out that it's made up of naturally grown and skinless soy flour (so it is safe from uric acid which triggers the arthritis in our joints), natural oats, wheat, mangosteen, moringa leaves (malunggay), ispaghula husk, rice, corn, brown sugar, non-dairy creamer and fortified with vitamins and electrolytes. Whew! Call it a 12-in-1. And since it's made up of natural products, there's no overdose! All without the caffeine!

Digging deeper, I found out the benefits of the different ingredients, they are:

Soy flour (not the milk-where only 30% of its nutritional value is retained) is high in protein, fiber, carbohydrates, isoflavones (remember Juan Flavier promoting this before?), polyunsaturated fats (which helps in lowering down bad cholesterol), and lots and lots of vitamins and minerals. (Wheat and oats have almost the same benefits as soy.)

Moringa Leaves (Malunggay), where a lot of people nowadays take for granted it's nutritional value to our bodies is 7 times the Vitamin C in oranges, 4 times the calcium in milk, 4 times the Vitamin A in carrots, 2 times the Protein in Milk, and 3 times the Potassium in Bananas. (Ever wondered why the indigenous people who make this leaves part of their diet live longer?)

Mangosteen's benefits include the following:
Anti-oxidant; Anti-obesity; Anti-Fungal; Anti-Fatigue; Anti-depressant; Cancer Prevention; Hypotensive; Anti-inflammatory; Anti-parkinson; Anti-diarrheal; Anti-ulcer; Cardioprotective; Anti-osteoporosis; Anti-stress and many more

Ispaghula Husk is very high in fiber. Since it is laxative, it helps flush out toxins during diarrhea and it helps during constipation.

Constipation can be caused by a poor diet, not drinking enough water or not going to the toilet as soon as you feel the need to. Pregnancy, a lack of exercise or movement (such as being ill in bed) and some medicines, including some pain killers, can also cause constipation.

Ispagula Husk increases the bulk of the stools, which encourages the bowels to move the stools through the digestive system. This bulking action means that it can also be used to help treat diarrhea and to help regulate the passage of food through the gut in people with certain chronic (long term) bowel disorders such as an ileostomy, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Ulcerative Colitis.

So there you go. An energy and detoxifying coffee rolled into one! All without the side effects of caffeine!

What's great also about the product is that it makes you full after drinking it. Since its high in protein, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals, what I did was drink it every morning and made it my breakfast. That's just it! Every morning. I know it’s not nice to skip meals especially breakfast. But due to its ingredients, it's like eating the same food in a different form. (More about breakfast on my next blog) So I lost 20 lbs in less than 3 months. So what? No big deal right?
Without any exercise? Why not?!! It’s just what I experienced in the duration of my self made diet. Just drinking GRD every morning, and sometimes before bedtime. (It's also good for people with insomnia by the way.) Caffeine in coffee makes you up awake at night. Omega 3, Vit.B1or thiamin and Vit.B3 or Niacin present in soy flour helps the brain functions and keep the nervous system normal, thus serving as a balancer and secretes melatonin which is a natural tranquilizer rendering the person to sleep.
Since a lot of people nowadays are into products that is for good health and of course lessens weight instantly, this GRD Coffee is for you. Drink coffee everyday! All without the effects of caffeine! 3 months without the exercise (especially for busy people) is not a bad thing right? How much more if you put the effort of going to the gym a day or two every week? Maybe three months is such a long time to trim down the excess bulge. So go ahead, drink and look good. Drinking coffee never tasted and felt this good.
